Robinhood launched the public mainnet for its Layer 2 blockchain, enabling tokenized stock trading in over 120 countries alongside a new DeFi lending product offering roughly 7% yield.

Robinhood launched the public mainnet for Robinhood Chain, its proprietary Layer 2 blockchain, bringing tokenized stock trading live in more than 120 countries as part of a broader 2026 crypto expansion plan the company first announced in December 2025. The rollout represents one of the most ambitious global expansion efforts among major crypto and trading platforms this year, extending Robinhood's reach well beyond its traditional U.S.-centric customer base.

Alongside the tokenized stock trading capability, Robinhood introduced Robinhood Earn, a decentralized lending product offering an estimated 7% yield on USDG, giving users a yield-generating option built directly on the company's own blockchain infrastructure. The company reported $51 billion in crypto assets under custody and $232 billion in notional trading volume over the trailing year, underscoring the substantial existing crypto business underlying this expanded infrastructure push.

In the United States specifically, Robinhood introduced agentic cryptocurrency trading at no additional cost, allowing users to leverage AI-driven trading tools without separate fees. The company has also expanded perpetual futures trading in Europe to include commodities, ETFs, and foreign exchange markets alongside crypto, broadening its derivatives offering considerably beyond its original crypto-only perpetual futures launch in the region.

Robinhood's geographic expansion has extended into new markets through strategic partnerships and acquisitions, with the company rolling out crypto trading to eligible UK customers through Bitstamp, bringing more than 50 digital assets into its main UK investing app alongside existing stocks, ISAs, options, and futures offerings. In Canada, Robinhood has expanded its cryptocurrency offering following its acquisition of digital asset platform WonderFi, giving the company established local infrastructure and regulatory relationships in that market.

The scale of this expansion -- spanning tokenized stocks, DeFi lending, agentic trading tools, and new geographic markets across the UK, Canada, and more than 120 countries via Robinhood Chain -- positions Robinhood as one of the more aggressive players pursuing comprehensive global crypto infrastructure buildout in 2026, competing directly with established exchanges like Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken across an increasingly overlapping set of product categories and geographic markets.
