XRP Surges 56% in a Week, Its Sharpest Rally Since the SEC Settlement

A combination of short liquidations, renewed ETF inflows and broader market momentum drove XRP's biggest single-week move since August 2025.

XRP surged more than 56% in a single week this month, its sharpest weekly move since the rally that followed Ripple's SEC settlement in August 2025, before giving back some of those gains in a broader market pullback.

The rally was driven by a combination of factors rather than any single catalyst. A wave of short liquidations forced traders positioned against XRP to buy back into the market as price began climbing, amplifying the initial move. That squeeze coincided with renewed inflows into spot XRP exchange-traded funds, with XRP ETFs pulling in tens of millions of dollars in fresh institutional demand during the period, and with broader crypto market momentum led by Bitcoin's own breakout earlier in the rally window.

The move briefly pushed XRP's market capitalization back toward the upper end of its recent range, though the token remains well below its cycle high of $3.65 set in July 2025 -- underscoring how sharp the rally was in percentage terms even as XRP stayed a significant distance from its all-time levels.

Political and regulatory developments added to the backdrop. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse was among the crypto executives who met with President Trump at the White House this month, where Trump publicly urged Congress to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. XRP has historically traded with outsized sensitivity to U.S. regulatory headlines given its multi-year SEC litigation history, and renewed attention on federal crypto legislation appears to have fed into trader sentiment around the token.

That legislative path remains uncertain, however. The Senate did not advance the CLARITY Act before its August recess, with the next procedural milestone not expected until mid-September and prediction markets currently pricing the odds of passage sometime in 2026 at only around 20%.

XRP has since pulled back alongside a broader crypto market retreat, sliding from its rally highs as the initial burst of short-covering and ETF-driven demand cooled -- leaving traders to watch whether the token can stabilize at its new higher range or whether the pullback extends further as the CLARITY Act's path through Congress remains unresolved.
