Bernstein analysts said Circle's shares could rally toward $190, implying roughly 60% further upside, driven by stablecoin adoption and emerging AI agentic finance use cases.

Bernstein analysts issued a bullish call on Circle in mid-March, arguing the stablecoin issuer's shares could rally toward $190, implying roughly 60% further upside after the stock had already doubled over the preceding several weeks. The bank's optimism centered on two main drivers: continued growth in mainstream stablecoin adoption and Circle's positioning to benefit from an emerging category of AI-driven agentic finance, where autonomous software agents increasingly use stablecoins to transact on behalf of users or other systems.

The agentic finance thesis represented a relatively new angle in stablecoin investment analysis. As AI agents have taken on more autonomous roles in areas like automated trading, procurement, and service payments, stablecoins have emerged as a natural settlement layer for these transactions, offering the programmability and near-instant finality that traditional banking rails struggle to match for high-frequency, machine-initiated payments. Bernstein's analysis suggested Circle was well positioned to capture a meaningful share of this nascent but potentially large use case given USDC's existing integration across major crypto and fintech infrastructure.

The bullish call came against a backdrop of genuinely strong operational momentum for Circle. USDC's market cap had been climbing toward record highs of nearly $78 billion around the same period, growing faster than rival Tether's USDT despite an otherwise turbulent crypto market. Circle had also been demonstrating institutional use cases in rapid succession, from internal treasury transfers to facilitating Aon's stablecoin insurance premium payment, building a track record that supported the growth narrative Bernstein's forecast relied on.

The rally proved short-lived in one important respect: just two weeks later, Circle's stock would suffer its steepest-ever single-day decline after a CLARITY Act draft threatened key stablecoin reward mechanisms, a reminder that even well-supported bullish theses in the stablecoin sector remained vulnerable to sudden shifts in the regulatory landscape that could arrive with little warning.

Bernstein's analysts acknowledged the forecast carried meaningful execution risk tied to still-unsettled stablecoin legislation, but argued Circle's head start in institutional relationships and regulatory compliance gave it a durable advantage over newer entrants racing to catch up in the same market.
